Sureprint Clonmel 4Ball

One could say that “at last we’ve played the Sureprint 4Ball” ‘cos it was postponed twice due to the weather but the weather was favourable this weekend and there was a great turnout of players, especially on Saturday, for this much appreciated sponsored 4ball and when the cards were checked it was the partnership of Ger Casey and Aidan Fox that came out on top, but only just, with a very good score of 37 points for the 15 holes competition. The winning pair started poorly salvaging a single point on the first but after the double bogey start the scoring took on a more normal pattern and a great eagle 3 on the 4th by Aidan brought the first nine score back to level par for 23 points. The last 6 was played in 2 over for an additional 14 points and a winning 37 total but only on the last 10 from Michael McSweeney and Jim O’Connor and in third place was Michael Murphy and Garret Condon with 35 points (on the last 8).

The Club is grateful to Sureprint Clonmel for their wonderful sponsorship.

Ladies Section

Considering the battering the course has taken over the last few weeks, conditions couldn’t have been better for the First Ladies Turkey competition of 2017. The greens were fantastic and there was a huge entry of over forty ladies.

Turkey winners for this week are...

1. Helen O’Donoghue (13) 24 pts

2. Gemma Murphy (11) 22 pts c/b

3. Anne Darmody (20) 22 pts

Great to see so many playing on such a lovely day & many thanks to the men for all the hard work in getting the course back to such good condition after ‘Ophelia’.

Don’t forget that if you enter the weekly competition you can also enter the ongoing Christmas Hamper though only one card will count if in the prizes for a turkey!

This week sees the holding of our AGM, Wednesday at 7.30 pm. The player of the year will also be announced this night. Congratulations to Deirdre Ronan who is our incoming vice-captain and best wishes to Liz Binchy for a great year as Captain.

Next week’s competition will have draws at 9, 10 and 11. It would be a huge help if ladies could have the correct money for the entry especially at the 10 am draw.
