Fixtures
The Magic 7 & Magic 4 sponsored by Language Xchange Ireland has been extended and will continue to be played for each week.  The final is scheduled to be played for on Saturday March 27th & Sunday March 28th.  Great interest is being shown in this competition and we thank members for their continued support.

The Annual Fixture List is now complete and details of March are now available on the fixtures section of the website.  A copy of the fixture list will be kept in the hallway, at the bar and with the Secretary Manager. The fixture list contains a monthly calendar of Fixtures from now to December 2010 and also includes details of the Management, Men’s and Ladies Committees for 2010.  Details of Munster Cups and Shields dates, Venues and the various Team Managers are also included. 
           
Open Singles
On Tuesday the 16th March 2010 the South East Scaffolding 18 hole Open singles commences at Clonmel Golf Club and will continue each Tuesday until early October when the Grand Final will be played.   Each week we guarantee a visitor qualification.  In addition to qualification for the final there will be a weekly winner’s prize and the weekly 2nd & gross winners will also qualify for the final in early October. We hope to have about7 months of qualifying singles in 2010.  Entry fee for members is €5 and €15 for Visitors. Golfers should remember that a condition of entry to this competition will require members to use their GUI card in the computer.  If you do not have it in the ‘wallet’ now is a good time to locate it after the winter sojourn. Visitors should telephone 052 6124050 to reserve tee times. 


18 Hole Course (2 x 9)
From the 16th March until the development programme is complete in mid May the 18 hole open singles will be played on TUESDAYS ONLY on the basis of 2 x 9 holes for Gents.   A Time Sheet will be in operation for the duration of the 9 hole course.  The holes in play will be the old holes 1st 2nd 3rd 10th 11th 12 16th 17th & 18th.  The 2nd 9 is a repeat of the front 9.  A new card has been prepared and will be utilised on a Tuesday only.  The score card has the holes in sequence 1 to 18 and each hole is indexed 1 to 18.    The cards are printed and ready for use.  We ask the members to use the time sheet which will be on display from the 9th March to assist the committee in the smooth running of this competition.  

On the 13th March we have a 15 hole club fourball and on Sunday the 14th the Donoghmore Cup sponsored by O Sullivan Insurances (player of the year) is scheduled to be played.  On St Patrick’s day we have a scramble with two shotgun starts {9.30am and 1.30pm}sponsored by Supervalu – Brian Jones.  

Membership Renewals
All members please note that full subscription was due for payment by 28th February, 2010.  Alternatively, those making payment over two installments, the first payment was also due by 28th February (see your invoice for details).  Please contact office immediately to make arrangements for subscription payment for 2010.

Membership for new applicants now available and Special Offer for Beginners

Have you recently become a member of our Club?  Have you playing partners to play golf with?   What kind of competitive golf do you think should be available to members in 2010 that has not been available to date?  If you have a view on this contact Secretary Mick Mullane or any committee member. 

Golfers please be aware that the greens have been subjected to some very severe weather conditions and the immediate repair of plug marks on the greens (for those lucky enough to be able to create them) is vital to the recovery of the green.  Be vigilant for these plug marks.

LOYALTY INCENTIVE BONUS
Members, whose Annual Subscription includes a ‘Development Contribution’ and who pay this Annual Subscription continuously for the years 2008 to 2011 inclusive, will be entitled to receive a loyalty bonus at the end of 2011. The loyalty bonus will include, but may not be limited to, a credit which can be used against the Annual Subscription for the year 2012.

2009 GREEN FEE TICKETS
Due to the bad weather during the recent few months it has been decided that the 2009 Complimentary Green Fee Vouchers will now be valid up to 5th April 2010.

Junior Boys Golf-The Fred Daly and Junior Foursomes Inter Club competitions will commence during the Easter Holidays so Junior Boys get practicing for team selection for these events.

Private Parties
The excellent facilities of Clonmel Golf Club are available to cater for private functions, such as birthday and anniversary parties, family celebrations and other similar events. The spacious and comfortable Clubhouse is an ideal venue to celebrate a special occasion with family and friends.

Suggestion Box:- Captain, Donal Ryan, has left out a suggestion box for members to nominate / suggest ideas for the Centenary Year in 2011.  If you have an idea that you think is worthy of consideration, write it down and place it in the box in the hallway.

Suir Valley Golf Experience (Play Cahir, Carrick and Clonmel for €60)
Play three courses - Cahir Park, Carrick-on-Suir and Clonmel mid-week – for €60. Tickets can be obtained from any of the Golf Clubs on arrival or you can contact us here on 052-6124050 extn. 20 or call in to the office or Professional’s shop to purchase in advance.

 

‘ADOPT A TREE’ PROJECT 

Clonmel Golf Club has embarked upon an ambitious Centenary Club Development Plan.  One element of the development will see the planting of a large quantity of trees on the course over the lifetime of the Plan. See Club Development Plan section for more information on our 'Adopt a Tree Project'.

GUI Cards: The use of G U I cards for entry to all Club Competitions is mandatory. Remember to bring your card with you.   

Professional Coaching
Robert Hayes has put together a package for new and existing members should they wish to avail of it.  A group of at least four golfers may avail of the opportunity of a one hour coaching session each week for four weeks at a very reasonable rate.  It would make a nice gift for someone perhaps.  If interested contact Club Professional Robert Hayes on 052 6124050 for details.  A similar package is also available for Junior Golfers..

Use of Buggies on Course
There is an onus on members to check the notice board regarding the use of ride on buggies on the course.   The inclemency of the weather determines whether or not this is permissible.   If it is not permitted then the use of the ride on buggy is prohibited.

We are creating an email distribution list to assist communicating with members. If you wish to be added to this distribution list, please send an email from your own email address to: members@clonmelgolfclub.com We will send regular updates on various club activities to all members on this list. A hard copy of any updates will also be posted on the notice board in the clubhouse. If at any stage you wish to be removed from this distribution list, just send an email saying “Unsubscribe” to the club.
